Haiti

I have never been a kid person. I never thought I wanted kids, and was perfectly fine not holding someone's baby. Weird, I know. Then I got pregnant. Before Wyatt was even born I felt myself becoming very sensitive to little babies and the struggles some go through with their health/living situations, especially those in poor economic conditions. Having a baby is hard work, and I have all the tools and a great support system! Once he was born I knew that at some point in my life I would have to do something to help little babies, somewhere...somehow. When I heard about the earthquake in Haiti, my mind immediately went to the kids and the orphanages. I was glued to the news, even though it reduced me to tears and kept me up at night worrying. I was lucky to find some blogs and websites of some small NGO's and individuals who are doing really good, hard work in Haiti. I wasn't very excited about pouring my support into the large NGO's, such as UNICEF, because I don't agree with a lot of their policies and procedures, but that is another post because they infuriate me! Anyway, I religiously read these blogs and websites for updates on individuals they are helping in Haiti. Some of these kids have issues totally unrelated to the earthquake, such as severe malnutrition, which makes their situation even more dire. My heart just goes out to all the people that are suffering there, and all over the world. A quick google search of "christian orphanages" showed me just how widespread the suffering is. I really hope to figure out what my calling is to help some of these people. Their lives make my problems seem so, so little. While everytime I read about these people I get tears, I also am able to smile about all that God is doing for these people and how blessed I am.

Yesterday we went to church for Plam Sunday, and Wyatt looked quite dapper in his little button-up and vest.

On Saturday we went here:

River Run Lodge. We strolled down from our house, about half a mile, and sat and listened to the apres ski band and had a drink. The weather was gorgeous and I loved it.
I could easily live somewhere with a warmer climate, sometimes I don't think I was made to live in a ski town.
Here is the wedding inspiration for the day:
I love the frills set against the hay. We are still getting absolutely nowhere with our planning. It is impossible to find something unique, new and affordable in this town.

Here are some pictures of Peanut. He is almost 9 and a half months old. I am pretty much obsessed with him.

I love hooks. If I could, I'd have a closet with just hooks. No hangers. Think of all the time you would save just throwing your clothes on hooks. I know, I am lazy. House Beautiful did a feature on hooks in the Feb. 2010 issue, and these are some of my favorites. They are from umbra, rocky mountain hardware and the hooklady.com.

I have always loved Sunset Magazine. Lately, I am head over heels. They have the most delish recipes and I always get such a good lifestyle vibe while reading the magazine. Sometimes I just want to emulate the farmers market/cruiser bike/locavore dinner with friends/grow your own vegatable life they are promoting. That said, I am really hoping to consult Sunsetmag.com for help on how to grow some vegetables. I can't grow anything! I have a little sprig of mint that is limping along in my house right now, but I would love some yummy zucchini or lettuce, although it is so hard to grow things in this cold arctic climate I live in.

This is my Inner Bride avatar from TheKnot.com.

Yes, I am engaged but not currently planning a wedding. I really want to go to Mexico or somewhere dreamy and sunny, but nobody else seems to think that is a good idea. My little peanut would love the beach, but right now he just wants to take a bite out of the camera.
