same old

Nothing new around here. It is still snowing/raining/cold/sunny all in the same day. See below:

Snow and it is almost June.

This is how Peanut sleeps. Head in corner. Bottoms up. Clutching blankie. Once I figured out he wanted to sleep on his tummy both of our lives became a lot easier. I know you are supposed to put your baby "back to sleep" but after a couple months it just wasn't working. Now he sleeps all the way through the night and so do I!

One of the biggest surprises upon arriving in Yakima was this house perched on a hill near the golf course overlooking the whole town. From a distance it looked so big we originally thought it was a church. A little investigating led me to this architect: guy dreier. He mostly does sprawling palaces in palm springs, but decided to venture to the pacific northwest for some fruit farmers. And let me tell you, little Yakima has some moolah running around. I saw more Bentleys and Lexuses than I do here in Sun Valley...

Under construction!
This is house in Palm Springs he designed:

Somewhat early 2000's fabulous, but striking nonetheless.

For Real

This is the sign that greets you as you drive south into Yakima. I don't know about everyone else, but I had a very palm springs-ish vacation in Yakima. For Washington at least!

road trip

This last weekend we made a long road trip and went to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Washington! Wyatt was a superstar in the car, and he loved all the new toys and the backyard at their place.

He had so much fun he tuckered himself out!

They live on a golf course and Grandpa is a golf pro, so we enjoyed some beautiful views and great weather.
We were also able to go visit some of Jon's friend's cabins in the mountain by Lake Cle Elum. It took him back to his younger years and it was great to catch up with some of his friends from Seattle.

The owners of this cabin had recently finished the landscaping for their daughter's wedding.

All the boys catching up. It was so peaceful and beautiful. We would love to go back!

stumped

What to do with all these tree stumps that Jon cut down last fall? We didn't have that many fires this winter so we have a LOT left over. While they are kinda neat to look at, I am always on the hunt for some DIY project.

While this faux bois rug has nothing to do with DIY or the stack of stumps in my backyard, I love it. vintageindie

And I'm still looking!

This kid turned 11 months on Mother's Day. SO big! Can't wait for his 1 year birthday, I have already bought a bunch of birthday party cups, plates, decorations, hats, etc. He's going to love it...

This is his absolute favorite book right now. It has lots of boy things in it, like cars and tractors and fire engines.

We're headed to Yakima to visit the Grandparents tomorrow. Wish us luck on our first long road trip with the Peanut. It is supposed to be really warm there, so I am on cloud 9. Bring on the hotness!

We are all bored here. It is very cold and overcasty/rainy. But, we got a new camera! Well, I got a new camera for mother's day (early because he couldn't wait) but we are all excited. So, we take pictures of our favorite subject because it is just not nice enough to go outside, and it is slack here so it is like we live in a ghost town. Meanwhile, Peanut is going about doing his usual stuff.
Taking baths. And posing for the camera?
Pushing his little pusher cart around

Putting things in his mouth

Eating. Yes, that is a piece of cereal by his nose.

I, on the other hand, have been scouring the internet for inspiration for a huge blank canvas that I scored supercheap at my favorite second-hand store, the Gold Mine. If I could find some more I would be tempted to do something mod like this.
